Sometimes, until people remind me, I forget that owning a press is a huge accomplishment. I am proud that my father, the original JEA, began writing under the name and left me his legacy. That said, I always hate taking credit because I see what others do/have done more easily. I need to brag.
Scott Pratt. If anyone can imagine a man I trust enough to hand over all banking information to and allow to serve as CEO to a company I love dearly, you get what I have done. I can ask/tell him anything (and have) and trust him with my very life. Besides being that kind of friend, he is a damned good businessman and I am thankful for him every day. He is a professional and a good guy. Thanks, Scott for making JEA great!
Jim Goforth. The words escape me. I am generally in awe of his talent, his smart decisions, and his accomplishments. Although he is fun as a dear friend, he is also such a great writer and a great businessman that asking him to serve as COO was a given. He inspires me every day to be better!
Toneye Eyenot. He is like a brother to me. Talented, smart, driven, kind to a fault: he is everything people should strive to be. His caring and humor have helped me more times than I care to count. I pray every day that I am half the friend to him that he is to me and my entire family.
(Going to go shorter now because my shoulder is bugging me, but in no way does it lessen my love for these people)
Dawn Cano. My BFF. There are no words for how much I adore this smart lady! She gets me and I hope I am a good friend; she sure is to me! And she can edit the hell out of a story!
John Ledger. He makes me cry, laugh, and snort Dr. Pepper up my nose at his antics. I new he was a gifted writer but he is more than that, and a gifted staff member. He is priceless.
Roma Gray. Tireless, loyal, dedicated, brilliant, sweet, creative..I could go on and on! She is a total joy and a gift to JEA
Amanda Lyons. No words are enough. She is an inspiration and so smart and sweet that it amazes me. Her loyalty and dedication are unreal. SO much love to her!
Mark Woods. I could cry, remembering that his advice and reviews are what gave me my start. Without him, I might not have signed my first contract with Severed Press. When he said "rewrite", I never hesitated; I trust him that much! (He is also a good writer!)
Michael Noe. He is one of the most supportive, caring people I know. Not just a good writer, he is able to reach out to people and make them feel good; that is a gift. He also makes me laugh and is a heck of an interviewer!
David McGlumphy. I met him at a convention and he is the nicest, funniest person ever. He is not just a great cover artist, but he is also the kind of person anyone needs as a dear friend. We had so much fun at the con!
Stephen Cooney. Have you seen his art? Right. He is talented, and an artist I love working with. I am thankful he is also my friend!
Michael Fisher. Fish. He has done so many favors for me, I have lost count. Not once has he ever been anything but a loyal friend and he is also an amazing cover artist. I love this guy!
T.S. Woolard. Shane. How many times have i cried on his (internet) shoulder? He is caring and yet will not hesitate to tell me when I mess up. His honesty is what makes him a friend to me. I saved him for the last because I cannot even say all he has done to make JEA great; he literally is the heart of JEA.
We have a wonderful staff and I value each.
We also have some wonderful authors. In a slight throwback, instead of just grabbing new releases (get them, too!) check out some older works that I am very proud of!
